Type “letter” and you get the word processors. Every entry shows where it comes from and in which version — you decide yourself.
Ein Software-Laden ist schnell gebaut. Das Schwere ist die Suche: Sie setzt voraus, dass man den Namen kennt. Wer „Brief“ eingibt, bekommt auf einem frischen Debian vier Programme — und kein einziges davon schreibt Briefe. Der Grund: Die hinterlegten Suchwörter sind englisch. LibreOffice Writer versteckt sich hinter „Letter“ und „Fax“.
Building a software shop is easy. The hard part is search: it assumes you know the name. On a fresh Debian, typing “letter” in German gives you four programs — and none of them writes letters. The reason: the stored keywords are English.
Dieses Programm bringt deshalb eine Wörterbrücke mit. Alltagswörter zeigen auf die englischen Suchwörter, die im Katalog wirklich stehen. Das ist eine Liste von Sprache, nicht von Programmen — sie gilt deshalb auch auf einem Rechner, den wir nie gesehen haben.
That is why this program carries a word bridge. Everyday words point to the English keywords actually stored in the catalogue. It is a list of language, not of programs — so it works on machines we have never seen.
Das Zweite: Dasselbe Programm gibt es oft an mehreren Stellen, in verschiedenen Fassungen. Statt still eine auszuwählen, zeigt dieses Programm alle an — mit Fassungsnummer, direkt in der Liste. Und fragt vor dem Holen, welche du möchtest.
The second point: the same program is often available from several sources, in different versions. Instead of silently picking one, this program shows them all — with version numbers, right in the list. And asks which one you want before installing.

Bisher musstest du für jede neue Fassung wieder auf diese Seite kommen und die Datei von Hand holen. Ab Fassung 2.26 geht es auch anders: Rikus Software hat eine eigene Paketquelle. Das ist dieselbe Technik, mit der dein System auch alle anderen Programme aktuell hält. Du trägst sie einmal ein — danach erscheint jede neue Fassung ganz normal bei deinen Systemaktualisierungen, ohne dass du etwas tun musst.
Until now you had to come back to this page for every new version and fetch the file by hand. From version 2.26 there is another way: Rikus Software has its own package source. It is the same technique your system uses to keep all other programs current. You add it once — after that every new version simply shows up with your normal system updates, with nothing left for you to do.
Schritt 1 — den Schlüssel holen. Damit erkennt dein Rechner, dass die Pakete wirklich von uns kommen und unterwegs niemand etwas verändert hat. Auf frisch installierten Rechnern fehlt oft das kleine Programm curl – der Befehl holt es gleich mit:
Step 1 — get the key. With it your computer can tell that the packages really come from us and that nobody changed anything on the way. Freshly installed computers often lack the small program curl – the command installs it first:

sudo apt update && sudo apt install rikus-softwareBeim ersten Start fragt das Programm nach deinem Freischaltcode. Den bekommst du kostenlos über den Knopf oben auf dieser Seite — Name, E-Mail, Land, und der Code kommt sofort per Mail. Er wird einmal eingetippt und danach nie wieder verlangt.
On first start the program asks for your unlock code. You get it free of charge using the button at the top of this page — name, e-mail, country, and the code arrives by mail at once. You type it once and are never asked again.
Wenn du das Programm schon hast: Du musst nichts neu installieren. Trage die Quelle ein wie oben, und die neue Fassung wird dir als ganz normales Update angeboten — auch in Rikus Updateall.
If you already have the program: nothing needs reinstalling. Add the source as shown above and the new version is offered to you as an ordinary update — including in Rikus Updateall.

Dann passen zwei Bausteine nicht zusammen. So klappt es:

Tippe „Brief“ und du bekommst die Schreibprogramme. Tippe „Foto“ und du bekommst die Bildprogramme. Ohne diese Übersetzung findet die eingebaute Suche bei „Brief“ kein einziges Schreibprogramm.

Gibt es etwas an mehreren Stellen, fragt das Programm vorher — mit Fassungsnummern und einem Satz dazu, was das jeweils bedeutet. Wer sich festlegen will, stellt es einmal ein.

Bevor etwas passiert, steht in Klartext da: woher es kommt, welche Fassung, wie viel Platz es braucht und ob ein Passwort kommt. Erst danach wird gefragt.
Before anything happens you see in plain words: where it comes from, which version, how much space it needs and whether a password will be required. Only then are you asked.
Nach dem Holen wird unabhängig geprüft, ob das Programm wirklich auf der Platte liegt — statt dem Vorgang einfach zu glauben.
After installing, an independent check confirms the program really is on the disk — instead of simply trusting the process.

Die Oberfläche richtet sich nach der Sprache deines Systems. Die Beschreibungen der Programme kommen übersetzt aus dem Katalog, wo es sie gibt.

Im Zahnrad schaltest du jede Quelle einzeln an und aus: Debian, Flathub, Snap, AppImage, Hersteller-Seiten, die Rikus-Programme und die vier Entwickler-Ablagen. Daneben steht, wie viele Programme daran hängen — du siehst also sofort, was eine Abwahl kostet. Die letzte eingeschaltete Quelle bleibt an, sonst wäre der Laden leer.
Under the gear you switch each source on and off individually: Debian, Flathub, Snap, AppImage, vendor pages, the Rikus programs and the four developer archives. The number of programs is shown next to each one, so you see at once what switching it off would cost. The last active source stays on — otherwise the shop would be empty.
Unten steht nicht nur, woher die Programme kommen — sondern auch, was gerade NICHT dabei ist und warum: ausgeschaltet, nicht eingerichtet oder von deinem System gesperrt. Andere Läden lassen Programme einfach verschwinden, ohne ein Wort.
The footer does not only say where programs come from — it also says what is currently missing and why: switched off, not set up, or blocked by your system. Other shops simply let programs disappear without a word.
Der einfache Weg: Auf „Kostenlos anfordern“ klicken und die Datei anschließend doppelt anklicken. Die Software-Verwaltung deines Systems öffnet sich und installiert das Programm.

Meldet dein System „Nicht unterstützte Datei … auf Befehlszeile angegeben“, ist die Datei dort nicht vorhanden — das Paket ist in Ordnung. Meist stimmt der Ordner nicht, oder man sitzt über eine Fernverbindung auf einem anderen Rechner.
Important: run the command on the machine where the file actually is. If your system says “unsupported file … on the command line”, the file is not there — the package is fine. Usually it is the wrong folder, or you are on a different machine over a remote connection.
Danach steht Rikus Software im Startmenü unter „System“.
After that Rikus Software appears in your application menu under “System”.
Voraussetzungen: Du musst nichts von Hand installieren — beim
Einspielen mit apt wird alles Fehlende automatisch mitgeholt. Der
Vollständigkeit halber, was gebraucht wird: python3, python3-gi, gir1.2-gtk-3.0, gir1.2-appstream-1.0, appstream, apt, pkexec, desktop-file-utils, sed, grep, coreutils, curl, gpg, lsb-release, xdg-utils, tar, unzip, x11-xserver-utils und libfuse2t64 (auf älteren Systemen libfuse2).
Empfohlen (apt holt es von selbst mit): gir1.2-ayatanaappindicator3-0.1.
Freiwillig: flatpak, snapd und apt-config-icons. Fehlen
flatpak und snapd, sucht das Programm in Flathub und im Snap-Laden über das Internet und richtet
Flatpak oder Snap erst ein, wenn du von dort etwas holst — vorher fragt es. Fehlt apt-config-icons,
bietet das Programm an, die Programmbilder zu holen.

flatpak and snapd the program searches Flathub and the Snap Store over the internet and only sets
up Flatpak or Snap when you get something from there — it asks you first. Without
apt-config-icons the program offers to get the program pictures.
